You will also oversee the accounting system including any upgrades and system changes.This will include implementing and maintaining robust internal controls, ongoing policies and procedures and monthly reconciliations.It is an ideal role for someone with a substantial industry background and experience of financial controls and management with 10+ years post qualification.Key Responsibilities:Financial Controls:Oversee and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functionsOversee and manage bank processing and reconciliationsDaily cashflow management / forecastingMaintenance of bank accounts and banking portalImplement and maintain internal controls and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of finance dataImplement and maintain accounting policies and procedures (incl. accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany and group charges)Reconcile Balance sheet accountsReconcile and ensure accuracy of VAT postingsProvide reporting team with any necessary data for the year-end statutory accounts; support during audit process and answer any queriesOversee accounting system – covering daily processes and controlsActive involvement in system upgrades and improvementsLiaise with MDs and other business managers regarding relevant finance mattersGeneral Duties:To perform such duties consistent with your role as these may from time to time be assigned to you anywhere within the College.To Adhere to all colleague policies and procedures, including Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety.Respect confidentiality: all confidential information should be kept in confidence and not relates to unauthorised persons.To work in accordance with the Colleges’ Equal Opportunities Policy and to promote equality and diversity in your work.To undertake continuous personal and professional development, and to support it for any staff you manage through effective use of the College’s Planning, Review and Appraisal scheme and staff development opportunities.To make full use of all information and communication technologies in adherence to data protection policies to meet the requirements of the role and to promote organizational effectivenessDemonstrate excellent Customer Services in dealing with all customers.Technical accounting:Document group accounting policies and monitor compliance with themAdvise the finance team and the wider business on technical accounting matters.Draft technical accounting papersMonitor and assess the impact of changes to accounting standards and reporting requirementsSupport the FP&A team on the technical accounting aspects of the budgeting and forecasting processesoWork with external advisors on other accounting matters where necessaryRequirements:
- Qualifications: Strongacademics / Post Qualification.
- Experience: Strongexperienceofmanagingday-to-dayfinance activity, using accosting software, excellent understanding of internal controls and statutory audit process, deep technical accounting and statutory reporting knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP), use of Agresso and SAGE
- Skills: Ability to communicate complex matters clearly and concisely to non-finance colleagues, strategic vision, problem-solving, innovative thinking, inspirational leadership, effective communication, and stakeholder management.
