The European Farm Animal Breeders Association (EFFAB) has a job opening for an enthusiastic Financial and Administrative Officer

We are seeking a candidate with experience and aptitude for working in a dynamic, small international team. Our secretariat coordinates the work of EFFAB and FABRE TP, organisations active in the animal breeding sector, We are looking for a dynamic person who will help to move our mission forward with precision, collaboration, and outstanding organisational skills.

About the job/Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of finance, accounting, and administrative functions, ensuring active oversight and management.
  • Record all entries into the general ledger, including staff costs and processing suppliers’ invoices.
  • Play an active role in the external audit process by preparing information for auditors.
  • Handle legal and internal requirements such as changes in the association and UBO compliance.
  • Support the Director and the EU Program Coordinator with the preparation and monitoring of the budget and EU project financial reports, ensuring all deadlines and compliance with EU financial rules.
  • Support the Director in defining the association’s needs and financial strategy by developing and implementing the move of the Headquarters to Belgium in 2025.
  • Manage the logistical aspects of the association’s operations, providing comprehensive administrative support. Responsibilities include preparing essential information, documents, and reports; coordinating with suppliers, property management, and external accounting and payroll services; booking meeting rooms; managing mailings and follow-ups; and coordinating travel arrangements.Collaborate closely with other team members, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.

Qualifications & Skill

  • A university degree or technical certification in accountancy, business administration, or any equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Belgian and/or Dutch administrative and financial requirements for non-profit associations
  • Working experience in accounting for EU research projects (Horizon 2020, Horizon EU, Interreg, etc.).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Motivated, positive, and a strong team player who can contribute to an excellent work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and any accountancy and support to organisations software.
  • High proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a major asset.

A passion and interest for farming are bonuses, and the desire to learn new topics and skills is a valuable asset.
