Country Finance Manager BELUXAbout ActionAction is growing fast – in fact we’re the fastest growing non-food discounter in Europe. We grew from a single store in Enkhuizen (NL) into an international retail organization in the space of 30 years, with over 2 700 stores in 12 countries.About the JobAs a Finance Manager within Action, you will be part of the Country Management Team and report directly to the Head of Country Controlling with a dotted line to the Country General Manager.Your responsibility will be to support the organization of Action in the BELUX in a manner that safeguards the financial integrity of Action’s reporting and manage the key risk elements of our expansion.The scope covers Finance, Risk & Compliance, Legal, Tax and Procurement.You will act as a business partner, supporting and challenging the management team to deliver profitable and sustainable growth whilst monitoring and managing risk.Areas of Responsibility:The Finance Manager is expected to fulfill a broad and pro-active role in ensuring a controlled, effective and sustainable expansion of Action.Strategic Performance
- Delivering a solid and appealing multi-year strategy for the country within the boundaries set by Head Office;
- Involved in (multi-store) fill-in acquisitions in local market;
Operational Performance
- Make sure that Action operating processes (including internal controls) are tailored to local circumstances
- Overall cost control of local operations (including local procurement)
- Control, follow-up and authorization of local Real Estate and other (eg IT) IPs
- Deliver integer management reports pertaining to the country
- Responsible for the coordination and execution of the (local) year plan and supporting management with regards to set-up of budgets, benchmarks and evaluations
- Support operations and expansion through strong analytics and pro-active performance management
.Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Acts as the contact person for (local) external relations like auditors and tax authorities in the country
- Monitoring adherence to the Code of Conduct of Action
- Responsible for local GAAP and local statutory ledger
- Responsible for compliance with all local tax laws and regulations including duties
- Prepare and monitor reports on Risk and Control Self-Assessment and discuss with country management
- Monitoring of information security (IT controls, adherence to Code of Conduct). “Signaling function.”
- Support Internal Audit when relevant

About You:
- Economic/financial degree at academic level and 10 – 15 years relevant working experience;
- Seniority and experience from a similar position in the Retail sector;
- Solid understanding of Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Internal Control standards;
- Strong Communicator (writing and oral);
- Business oriented, dynamic and flexible;
- Experience from fast growing environments;
- Fluent (written and verbal) in Dutch, French and English.
