Wild Things Environmental Education in Action

vacanciesineu.com

Award-winning environmental education charity, Wild Things, is seeking an experienced outdoor
practitioner to join the fieldwork team in the delivery of our charitable and social enterprise
programmes.

The right candidate for this role must have experience delivering environmental education and
bushcraft skills to a broad client group as well as being able to process information quickly
and lead groups from the start.

We would like to bring into the team someone who is playful yet professional, who loves
spending time outdoors, sharing their passion for the natural world with both young and old.
Our ideal candidate will engage people on a variety of activities that promote an understanding
and care for the environment as well as the health and wellbeing of our clients and
participants.

The successful candidate will not only contribute towards a wide variety of outdoor education
activities across Moray and the Highlands through our Silver saplings project, but will take
the lead on delivering two new after school clubs focused on providing extracurricular
environmental education and bushcraft activities for children and teenagers in the Forres area.
This will entail the ability to work afternoons and early evenings two days per week. The
success of this new initiative may form the foundation of ongoing after school activities for a
much broader extracurricular programme.

To enable the smooth flow of our programmes, the ideal candidate will have excellent
organisational skills and have experience of logistics, preparing resources, session plans and
caring for equipment and tools.

Ideally, you will hold relevant experience and/or qualifications in:

  • Bushcraft as well as strong naturalist skills and environmental knowledge.
  • Leadership of outdoor learning activities focused on environmental education (Woodland
Activity Leader Training, Forest School L3 or other equivalent training and/or experience – we
are also interested in candidates from other educational backgrounds who are willing to develop
    their naturalist skills and knowledge)
  • Outdoor First Aid qualification
  • Hold a clean driving license (and ideally a D1 minibus license).

All employees are subject to PVG checks in line with our Child Protection policies. See the job
description on our website for further details.

Contract Duration: Approximately 7 months (up to October 2024)
Hours: 35 hours per week (fulltime)
