ERM is seeking a driven, results-oriented, and experienced Field Construction Manager to join the Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) team in Antwerp (Belgium). This role offers a unique opportunity to lead field project management for top-tier contractors engaged in dynamic construction and remediation projects for our clients in the Flanders region, for an important ERM client. We strive to develop risk-based soil and groundwater remediation strategies that protect human health and ecology, whilst satisfying our clients’ business goals and meeting regulatory obligations. We manage their risks and clean up their balance sheets, while keeping a close eye on costs and managing stakeholders’ expectations. Our global services include site investigation, risk assessment, remediation, and redevelopment strategy development and implementation to help capture value from our clients’ active facilities and discontinued operations across the globe, supported by decommissioning and demolition services where needed.Your main responsibilities will be:
- Leading the ERM field implementation and overseeing contractor field activities, ensuring compliance with project technical execution, safety performance, environmental and regulatory standards, budget, and schedule.
- Managing and documenting all construction and remediation activities relative to scope and technical requirements.
- Daily management of contractors to achieve project scope of work.
- Monitoring construction and remediation activities, evaluating contractor performance against client requirements and technical specifications through field verification and audits.
- Maintaining clear communication with ERM and client management regarding deficiencies in contractor performance versus planned execution and scope of work.
- Documenting and reporting variances relative to scope and technical requirements.
- Reviewing contractor work plans and critical task plans, providing feedback to the ERM team and Client.
- Reviewing and commenting on contractor schedules, change order requests, and invoices, if requested by the Client.
- Documenting field activities to show completion of the scope of work and maintaining a final punch list.
Our ideal candidate:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Have between eight and ten years of in-field contractor management experience on large, complex construction, civil engineering, and/or remediation projects.
- Experience as a project manager on construction works for an international contractor and/or engineering firm.
- Ability to support cost estimates, track project costs, track project transmittals / submittals and review invoices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project tools.
- Ability to provide excellent client service and communication; detailed project deliverables; excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Confident in facing clients and regulators.
- Driven, eager-to-learn, open communicator, proactive in tackling problems and providing solutions, analytic mindset.
- Thrives in a collaborative working environment but is also able to work independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Strong organization and analytical skills.
- Is willing to travel to perform site visits, meet clients, kick-off projects and chair on-site project progress meetings.
- Has a driving license (B).
