The scale, variety and complexity of the estate is unparalleled within the sector.About the roleWe are recruiting for a Facilities Manager to join the Area Facilities Management Team (AFM Team) at UCL. The AFM team are part of the Campus Experience and Infrastructure division and enable the smooth running of the Estate and enhance the customer experience by overseeing campus operations. Reporting into an Area Facilities Manager, the Facilities Manager will have their own group of buildings to oversee.In overseeing their group of buildings, the Facilities Manager will be responsible for maintaining a detailed knowledge of all of the activities undertaken in the buildings in their allocated group and for conducting regular site inspections including cleaning audits and fire safety inspections. They will proactively coordinate and liaise with stakeholders on Campus Experience and Infrastructure (CE&I) activities to build strong working relationships and identify any potential disruptions.A major focus of this role will be on building and maintaining good relationships with stakeholder groups and ensuring excellent information flow between multiple groups including, but not limited to, end users, hard and soft FM service providers (which are managed by another team), contract management teams and maintenance personnel.About youTo be successful in this role you need to have practical experience in monitoring estates services and operations using contractors and directly employed staff and practical knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation. Experience of Integrated Workplace Management Systems (equivalent to UCL’s PlanOn system) and Helpdesk operations are essential for this role, as are excellent IT skills including MS Office.You’re an excellent communicator who is capable of building strong and fruitful working relationships and who is capable of influencing others in a professional context. You’ll need to have experience working in a customer focused environment and coordinating complex outcomes to provide excellent customer service, as this is a major focus of the role.
