This includes the development of innovative software features and machine learning algorithms in driver state sensing, seat occupancy monitoring, child presence detection, or hand gesture recognition using 2D and 3D cameras as well as other interior sensing technologies. Driver state sensing plays an important role not only to prevent road accidents caused by drowsiness or distraction of the driver, but also in the context of higher levels of automated driving, e.g. hand over scenarios.Your RoleIn your daily job you will:Developing advanced Computer Vision algorithms for automotive interior (in-cabin) sensing from early prototype to production grade solutionRelevant algorithmic problems include image pre-processing, camera calibration, 3D pose estimation from 2D images, and 3D scene reconstruction from multi view geometry.Integrating Computer Vision modules with vision-based Machine Learning modules, and combining the outputs for specific applicationsWriting high quality, tested and efficient software in C++ for our Interior Sensing SW StackFiling patent applications to strengthen the Aptiv IP footprintWorking in an Agile SW development team (SCRUM)Mentoring junior engineersYour BackgroundKey ingredients for succeeding in the role are your:Master’s degree + 3 years of relevant experience or PhD degree in computer science or related field with specialization on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning or Autonomous SystemsStrong theoretical and practical background in image processing, computer vision, and multi-view geometry with minimum three years relevant work experienceStrong software development skills in both C++ and Python. You have a passion for clean, well-tested, and documented code, following an ASPICE development process.

Practical experience with Linux, version control systems (e.g. Git, DVC), build systems (Make, CMake, Autotools) and code review tools (Gerrit, Gitlab, Bitbucket)Fluent in English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills & good interpersonal skillsNice to have:Solid theoretical understanding of artificial intelligence, neural network architectures, model building and evaluationPractical experience in using at least one common ML framework (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow)Experience working with large scale datasetsWhy join us?You can grow at Aptiv.
