Job description
Role 1
Events Officer – Fixed Term Contract to October 2025
The CMA has an opportunity for an Events Officer to join the Policy and International Events Team. The CMA will host the International Competition Network (ICN) Annual Conference on 7 – 9 May 2025.
The event will be held over the course of 3 days, in Edinburgh and over 600 people are expected to attend in-person. Attendees will include a mix of officials from overseas national competition authorities, specialist press, academics, and non-government advisors (NGAs).
The role offers the opportunity to work in a team (with two Events Coordinators, and the Events Manager) to support and co-ordinate the delivery of the ICN Annual Conference in Spring 2025.
The Events Officer will be expected to travel to Edinburgh to support in the planning and delivery of the event as necessary.
Role 2
Events Officer – Permanent
The CMA has an exciting opportunity for an Events Officer to join a new Events function within the Strategy, Communications and Advocacy directorate.
The CMA is looking to increase the number and type of external events that it hosts to support its engagement with stakeholders to add impact of the CMA’s work.
You will be working alongside colleagues from across the CMA to support on the delivery of a programme of events that are tailored to audience expectations – explaining the work of the CMA and capturing insights from the CMA’s stakeholders across the UK.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a new team (with 2x Events Officers, and the Events Manager).
We expect the majority of events to be held in London, however travel will be required to deliver events in the CMA’s offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh and Manchester and other locations across the UK as necessary.
Person specification

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to successfully manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines (lead criteria).
- Demonstrable experience of establishing and managing relationships with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally (lead criteria).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to work pro-actively and as part of a team.
- Experience of working in a busy, delivery-driven operational team and undertaking financial administration tasks.
- High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
