The function comprises approximately 350 facilities management, construction and property professionals, project managers and customer facing operational colleagues. This key activity supports the student and campus experience for our 47,000 students and 13,000 staff across our sites.About the roleWe are hiring a Estates Strategy Manager for our campus in central London a short walk from Kings Cross St Pancras Station (hybrid working).The main purpose of this role is as follows:

  • Help in the development and implementation plan for the UCL Estates Vision (currently under development) having regard to agreed Institutional and Faculty priorities.
  • Support the transition to a strategic and holistic approach in managing the estate, ensuring it can accommodate and adapt to growth in student numbers and research activity.
  • Promote a customer focused, constructively challenging, responsive and adaptable service to drive value and deliver a wide range of strategy projects.
  • Engage collaboratively across the University, with Estate colleagues, academic staff and students, to understand requirements and to drive and promote space optimisation and efficiencies.
  • Engage with service providers when seeking expert advice/work.
  • Help to develop and implement short, and longer-term strategies, programmes and policies.
  • Support in the preparation of high-quality business cases through Estates and University governance processes.

  • The post requires the professional background and experience necessary to provide professional, technical and strategic advice at a senior management level within UCL, to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and the management of change.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to interpret and present complex data, including property financial/cash-flows
  • A natural collaborator, working cross functionally and at all levels, internally and externally
  • Proven influencing, negotiating and communication skills at all levels within UCL and externally
  • A track record of effective stakeholder engagement and delivering high quality customer service
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships
  • Following through on commitments to people and tasks
  • Taking Responsibility for making tough calls when necessary
  • Using appropriate influence and persuasion to ensure outcomes that are aligned to the organisations values and goals
  • Coordinating information and activities with relevant parties
