A deep understanding of industries, companies and stock markets, detailed financial analysis and a thorough assessment of management expertise underpin our successful stock picking approach. Berenberg’s team of analysts constantly identify mispriced shares to provide timely investment recommendations. Freedom of thought and complete independence are core to our research philosophy.We are currently looking to add resource in our Insurance sector team, so this is an exciting opportunity if you would like early exposure and rapid career progression. The sector has many complexities, so ideally we’d like someone who has significant expertise and knowledge of the intricacies of the sector – whether that is working as an actuary, underwriter or in one of the financial services clients with Insurance client coverage. This opportunity is perfect for somebody looking to make a career change into the Equity Research sphere.What will you do?

  • Conduct research on a range of companies within the Insurance sector, attendance at company presentations, attendance of meetings with company management, researching company accounts/reports and other sources and drafting research notes
  • Financial modelling and valuation
  • Undertake various support tasks associated with the research function, updating databases, reviewing and archiving research material

Who are we looking for?

  • Prior experience in a sell-side role such as Equity Research or Equity Sales or within an equity investment research role
  • OR ACA Qualification with 1st time passes at one of the Big 4 accounting firms is a significant advantage. Teams such as Capital Markets, Transaction Services, Valuation, Deal Advisory etc are also highly-valued with significant exposure to clients within Insurance
  • OR previous experience as an actuary, underwriter or within an Insurance firm in a role that demonstrates significant commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Keen expertise in Insurance companies across the UK and Europe
  • Passion for equities, excitement to build a career within Equity Research
  • Degree level education required
