Duration: Until the End of the Academic Year (with potential for a permanent role based on performance)Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport, as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position begins in October and will extend until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role based on your performance.Role Overview: As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support students in their English studies, helping to enhance their understanding of language and literature. This role is perfect for a recent English graduate considering a career in education or teaching, offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a classroom setting.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the English department in delivering engaging and effective lessons that cater to a diverse range of student abilities.
- Provide targeted support to students, both individually and in small groups, to help them improve their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Help prepare lesson materials and resources, ensuring they are accessible and challenging for all students.
- Support classroom management by helping to maintain a focused and inclusive learning environment.
- Identify students who may require additional support and work closely with teachers to implement appropriate interventions.
- Assist in monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers to help inform future lesson planning.
- Support students during assessments, helping them to prepare and build confidence in their abilities.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities such as homework clubs, revision sessions, or literacy workshops to further support student learning.
- Engage with the wider school community by attending staff meetings, training sessions, and contributing to school events.
Requirements:
- A degree in English or a related discipline, with strong academic credentials.
- A passion for literature and language, with a keen interest in working with young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A proactive and supportive approach to helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
- A good understanding of the secondary school English curriculum and the ability to apply your subject knowledge in a teaching context.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational or mentoring capacity, is highly desirable.
