What you’ll be involved in

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of Engineers working at the forefront of development projects, providing your design knowledge in aiding the business to develop safety critical designs through the full project lifecycle, from concept to implementation.

Working closely with a Project Manager the Engineering Lead will be the customer/ internal technical point of contact for all products prior to transfer to manufacture.

As Engineering Lead, you will also oversee the day-to-day management of over ten Engineers.

Some aspects for the role will include:

  • Leading a multi-functional team to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for new and existing high reliability safety critical products.
  • Provide hands on Engineering expertise to programmes to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Working with sales teams to understand new product requirements and support in customer bid work.
  • Liaising with external and internal customer to ensure design requirements are understood and meet.
  • Provide technical leadership for the programmes from the bid stage through to manufacture.
  • Taking part in design reviews, delivering and interpreting design requirements delivering the vision to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Provide input into the future technology development roadmap.
  • Provide a holistic systems Engineering approach to programmes form development through to production.

What we’re looking for in you

The successful candidate for this role will have a good overview of mechanical and electronic design principles including;

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Have a systems engineering approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to disseminate technical information to your engineering teams and external customer.
  • Exposure to Safety Critical design requirements would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Previous experience of working in the Defence sector would be beneficial.
  • Adaptable, with good attention to detail and quality mind-set.
  • Computer literate, using MS platforms such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to gain full UK Security Clearance once in the business.
