Exciting Opportunity for an Electrician

We are searching for an Electrician to join our busy Assembly & Test team based in Peterborough.

As Electrician, you will be responsible for all turbine and package assembly and preparation for FAT test activities involving our steam turbine product lines. You will work on multiple projects, typically at least four per year.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, it will be site based in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Installation, Testing and Commissioning of projects meeting PBL Quality Standards, Specifications and International Regulatory Requirements.

  • Use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills. Contribute to the design, development, manufacture, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, processes, systems or services.

  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems.

  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.

  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for: inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment. Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.

  • Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.

  • Understand and apply the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment.

  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for planning and preparing to maintain electrotechnical systems and equipment.

  • Understand and apply health and safety and environmental regulations, guidance notes and relevant codes of practice; and the requirements of the current edition of the Wiring Regulations.

  • Ensure health and safety legislation and policies are adhered to, to ensure a safe and legally compliant working environment.

  • Review job package upon receipt.

  • Ensure all work is completed to Company standard.

  • Recognise and overcome problems of shortage of build materials.

  • Undertake the build of first off/prototype equipment and liaise with Engineering to achieve optimum solutions.

  • Liaise with Engineering with regards to any design change/rectification.

  • Liaise with QHSE department with regards to standards.

To be successful you must have …

  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and legislation.

  • Experience in a comparable role within a similar industry.

  • A proven ability to correctly interpret manufacturing information and carry out related self- inspection tasks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work to deadlines.

  • Knowledge of internal and ISO9001; 2015 Quality Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental Management

  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing management techniques.

  • The ability to work on own initiative.

  • Knowledge of 5S continuous improvement.

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential)…

  • GCSE Grade C/4 Math’s & English or equivalent.

  • Recognised Modern Apprenticeship.

  • NVQ level 3 or above in Electrical installations.

  • 18th Edition wiring regulations.

  • CompEx 01-04
