ROLE PURPOSE

An exciting opportunity is available for an Electrical Systems Engineer, working on a technology development programme for a more-electric power and propulsion platform for an Aero Engine OEM.
-
This is an ideal opportunity to work on multiple stages of the technology development process and product lifecycle.
JOB REQUIREMENT
- The successful applicant will be responsible for applying systems engineering and a broad multidisciplinary understanding to capture and analyse electrical system requirements, carry out trade studies, identify, define and verify novel electrical system solutions in particular requirements and strategies for the control and management of electrical power
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Electrical power system requirements definition, trade studies, design and analysis, and demonstration through to initial production.
-
Support and guide the concept definition, requirements capture, modelling, development and test of intelligent, high integrity, power dense systems.
-
Support and guide the production of clear system specifications and performance requirements with input from mechanical, electrical, control system and thermal teams as well as partners and suppliers.
-
Support and guide the planning and execution of laboratory and rig testing of experimental systems right through to final certification testing and arisings resolution.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE
-
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, with an electrical bias preferred.
-
Good understanding of complex systems with experience in system design & development, preferably in the aerospace or adjacent industries.
-
Good understanding of electrical power system control requirements and strategies.
-
An appreciation of the influence of electrical system design decisions on other non-electrical systems and vice versa, and the collective impact on the product.
-
Experience in developing MBSE system models, preferably in SysML.
-
Experience of developing and implementing experimental test solutions to deliver complex system validation and verification preferred.

Experience of using structured problem-solving and troubleshooting methodologies.
-
Demonstrated ability to generate formal technical documentation suitable for technical expert/subject matter expert review as well as higher level summary reports for communication with senior management.

Awareness of appropriate national, sector and international design, qualification and certification standards.

Experience of Aerospace certification & qualification standards and their application for electrical power systems.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)

Excellent organisational & communication skills are vital as the role will require working on multiple technical disciplines simultaneously, and multi-level communication within the organisation.

Proven electrical system concept design capability.

Good understanding of gas turbine electrical system functionality and operability.
-
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and a diverse staff population.
-
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with proprietary information.
