The Access to Education Team ensure that all children and young people (CYP) receive an education as is their entitlement by law.We are looking to recruit a passionate individual with the drive and motivation to make a difference to the lives of children & young people in Kent.You will provide support and advice to families who Electively Home Educate (EHE) their children and young people (CYP). You will make contact with families (sometimes face-to-face, sometimes virtually) offering advice and guidance, recording the learning, progress, achievements, and welfare of CYP who are registered with the authority, across Kent, where this is needed.You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex and challenging situations.You will work collaboratively with partners and colleagues to ensure that CYP registered to EHE are in receipt of a suitable education and that all Year 11 CYP have a recorded onward destination.The role is one dedicated to supporting children in accessing the education to which they are entitled. It is the parent’s responsibility to educate, and the requirements of your role will vary on an individual case by case basis. You will be expected to offer helpful advice to those actively engaged in home education, and support in accessing education for those families where this is no longer their preferred approach. Mostly this will involve signposting families to access the right support where this is needed or simply logging activity where no direct involvement is invited.This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The recruitment process will include:
  • Stage 1: Assessment Centre at Invicta House, Maidstone on Friday 25th October
  • Stage 2: Panel interview (virtual) on Monday 28th October or Tuesday 29th October
