Job Description

Required.

As an EHS Specialist you will be primarily responsible for developing, implementing and managing Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies and practices and international standard across the Italian business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance at sales, service & project organization in the country to achieve EHS excellence and keep internal and external EHS Management systems certifications in place;
  • Implement local EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations and with Veolia Business Policies;
  • Be responsible for the emergency response program of sales, service & project organization in the Country to have procedures and intervention equipment and to act in case of an incident;
  • Organize and coordinates risk-assessments, investigations of incidents and accidents, and advises in complex root cause investigations to be able to improve safety and reduce risks;
  • Coordinate employee’s EHS training for sales, service & project organization in the Country;
  • Realize EHS Field audits leading compliance, ensure or support prompt closure of findings;
  • Track goals achievement through collection, analysis, and communication of EHS goals and measurements;
  • Participate in EHS compliance and/or management system audits;
  • Knowledge of local EHS regulations affecting business operations and communicates specific regulatory requirements as they apply to the work setting;
  • Manage and deliver EHS documentation according customers requirement, with particular focus on waste management;
  • Possibility to travel 20-30 % of time, as required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support senior leadership and operations;
  • Oversee of the work of EHS consultants for specific EHS projects (eg. Audits, Training, Site Assessment);
  • Coordinate the safety of Veolia employees who works in Veolia buildings.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in similar roles;
  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineer, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge Italian and European EHS legislation;
  • General knowledge of job related topics (e.g. Risks, analytical tools…);
  • Profound knowledge on health & safety issues, in particular the risks associated with chemicals;
  • Fluent Italian and English;
  • Knowledge of ISO 14000 and 45000;
  • ASPP certification;
  • Safety trainer certification.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated ability to influence organization culture, personnel and EHS programs;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects and tasks by using timelines and tracking systems of action plan/milestones to assure self-delivery;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize the most important liabilities and compliance issues and focuses activities/efforts on them;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
