Who we are looking for.
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Data Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team who also will be working closely together with the data steward. This role is needed in advancing our data infrastructure and ensuring data operations across the EHS organization. You will be responsible for the technical implementation, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and products within the Snowflake environment. You will use dbt Cloud as the ETL/ELT tool ensuring efficient and scalable data processing. Additionally, you will apply distributed data processing techniques to handle large datasets and complex computations at scale.
Key responsibilities.
Develop and maintain data pipelines: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to support the extraction, transformation, and loading data into Snowflake, ensuring high-quality data delivery across various systems
Data product development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and handle data products that meet business needs, applying Snowflake’s capabilities for storage, processing and analysis
Optimize data workflows: Implement standard methodologies for data pipeline optimization, including performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless data operations
Technical implementation and IT management: Lead the technical aspects of data engineering projects from requirement gathering through to deployment, ensuring alignment with architectural standards, business objectives and ITGC controls. This includes handling IT infrastructure, database management, and implementing Git for version control to follow-up changes, maintain code integrity and support collaborative development throughout the project lifecycle
dbt cloud integration: Develop, test, and deploy data models, ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency in data transformation processes within the data warehouse using dbt cloud
Collaboration and communication: Work closely with all partners to understand data requirements, provide technical mentorship and deliver data solutions that support decision-making
Documentation and compliance: Maintain comprehensive documentation ensuring alignment to data governance and compliance standards
What you need to bring.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
First years of professional experience in designing and maintaining data pipelines and products within modern platforms like Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics or Databricks
Strong proficiency in SQL and a deep understanding of database management, data warehousing and data integration
Hands-on experience with dbt Cloud for data modeling is a significant advantage
Familiarity with data governance and quality as well as compliance standards
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data workflows
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus
Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Business fluent English skills and ideally knowledge of German
