WE ARE

DIGIT is the Directorate-General for Digital Services whose aim is to deliver digital services to enable EU policies and to support the Commission’s internal administration. CERT-EU is the Cybersecurity Service for the European Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies (Union entities). CERT-EU is administratively attached to DIGIT.

Established in 2011 to shore up the ICT security for the Union entities, we have been steadily expanding our IT security operations over the years and currently serve over 90 such entities spread across the Continent and beyond. From our base in Brussels, we work with a range of peers, partners and researchers from all over the world to ensure we maintain our technological edge and have access to the best-in-class expertise.

WE PROPOSE

CERT-EU is looking to hire a truly motivated Assistant to the Director. The selected candidate will report directly to the Director of CERT-EU and work closely with the senior and middle management of the Directorate.

Bringing important or sensitive matters to the Director’s attention and contribute to their resolution.

Analysing files, preparing decision-support material, and filtering/prioritising submissions for the Director. Head of Unit, and Deputy Head of Unit.

Coordinating strategic input on organisational development and culture, in close collaboration with all relevant actors.

Monitoring and driving implementation of the Director’s decisions.

Coordinating the Directorate’s annual Work Programme, Annual Activity Report and, when required, updates to CERT-EU’s Service Catalogue.

Preparing and coordinating agendas for the Directorate’s meetings and ensure their follow- up.

Supervising and coordinating the work of the Secretariat Management Support Team. Organising and coordinating, as appropriate, sectoral events, CERT-EU Annual Conference (+/- 500 attendees) and participation of CERT-EU’s senior and middle management in high- stakes meetings and initiatives.

Coordinating and ensuring the quality of internal and external communication activities of the Directorate in close liaison with the relevant sectors of the Directorate.

Providing timely advice and input on policy files within the Directorate’s remit to CERT-EU’s senior and middle management, in close coordination with the Operational Cooperation sector and CERT-EU’s legal officer.

Advising on key initiatives of the Directorate and its strategic roadmap.

Contributing to shaping the annual Work Programme of the Directorate.

Monitoring the recruitment of contract staff, temporary and permanent staff of CERT-EU.

  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior and middle management on policy development and implementation.

  • A university degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate and coordinate cross­functional teams, foster collaboration, and drive project success.
  • Ability to align projects with organisational strategy and financial objectives, while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated a strong commitment to continuous growth in cybersecurity through 5AN5- recognised professional training, applying this knowledge to effectively manage workflows, resources, and data processes that underpin large-scale cybersecurity and intelligence operations.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts and terminology, including familiarity with the Traffic Light Protocol (TLP) and associated information-sharing rules, as well as knowledge of Open Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) principles.

The candidate must hold a security clearance at EU SECRET level or be in a position to be security cleared.
