Job description

As a Homologation Engineer you will be the main interface between the homologation teams of Europe and China. You will support BYD Europe’s team with all kinds of local homologation activities and actively involve your colleagues in China. You will be part of the European Product technical department(EPTD). The European Product technical department(EPTD) plans the sustainable product and technology roadmap for Europe and works on developing advanced, full electric bus and truck series which fulfill current and future European public transportation market needs.The EPTD team is looking for a homologation engineer to support the development of our next generation product.Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Understand (track) EC/ECE regulatory (revisions) requirements and their applicability to vehicle/subsystem/component compliance.
  • Investigate local regulatory and registration requirements in targeted European counties.
  • Analyze the homologation impact of engineering changes (project/running business) on system certificates and WVTA.
  • Support the vehicle development department in checking the regulatory compliance of components and systems throughout the development process.
  • Prepare homologation tests by creating detailed homologation plans in close cooperation with engineering and test departments.
  • Align and agree on the required type approval activities in close cooperation with technical services and type approval authorities.
  • If applicable negotiate with authorities about the correct interpretation of the legislation.
  • Write a test request to testing to plan and execute the required homologation tests.
  • Coordinate and witness the execution of homologation tests and provide guidance for the inspectors of technical service or type approval authority.
  • Ensure that all test results and technical information is accurately documented according to the regulations.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mechanical, automotive or relevant engineering field.
  • At least 3~5 years of Experience with / knowledge of the homologation process.
  • Experience in testing and validation of vehicles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language, other European language capabilities will be a plus.
  • Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.
  • Assertive, Optimistic, resilient and welcomes change.
  • Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together.
  • You have a creative mind and strong analytical skills.
