To strengthen the Early Music Vocal Studies, from September 2025, we are looking for an:Early Music Vocal Specialist(seven to eight 2-day visits per academic year)Vacancynumber: 25-002What we askOur new colleague is a recognized specialist of the German Baroque repertoire and has good knowledge of the English, French and Italian Baroque styles. You will be part of a team of four Early Music Specialists that together cover the four national historic areas. As an esteemed singer in the Early Music area, you play a crucial role in the musical development of our students and the development of the Early Music Vocal Studies (Bachelor and Master) as a whole. Namely:

• You visit The Royal Conservatoire seven to eight times a year to give individual lessons to students in various phases of their development. The main focus of the lessons lies in the style, language and interpretation (historical informed performance), and how technical input supports this;
• You play an important role in suggesting and choosing repertoire, suited to the level and abilities of the students;
• In collaboratioin with the respective voice teacher, you bear responsibility for, and inspire excellent development of the student’s artistic and musical level;
• You contribute to a safe and inspiring learning environment that emphasises the student’s responsibility for his/her learning process and their inquisitive and proactive study attitude;
• You participate in selection and assessment committees and participate in 3 (online) team meetings a year.

Your Profile

• You have obtained a completed vocal education at a Master level;
• You have broad international experience with Early Music (particularly German) repertoire and practice;
• You are an inspiring and communicative personality who is generous in sharing knowledge and experience with students and colleague teachers;
• You have an (international) network and are willing to use this for the ambitions and goals of the department;
• You have a good command of the English language, both orally and in writing;
• You preferably have experience/affinity with artistic research and are interested in curriculum innovation;
• You are interested to follow the conservatoire’s “Artist as Teacher” training (thus obtaining a BKE-certificate).

We offer HBO bachelor and master education, various preparatory courses, and in collaboration with Leiden University electives and a PhD programme. The Vocal Department of KCThe Vocal Department offers the Vocal Studies (Classical Music and Early Music) as well as the Choral Conducting Studies of the Royal Conservatoire. Approximately 55 students study at prepatory, Bachelor and Master level. The Vocal Department is a playground for collaboration and connects intersively with other departments of the conservatoire, both formally and informally. Our alumni find their way to domestic and foreign opera houses, are active in chamber music and innovative musical theatre, teach and conduct or sing with professional choirs and ensembles.
