Job description
Offer DescriptionThe goal of this research project is to make a substantial contribution to the field of neuromuscular diseases, particularly to current and future clinical studies involving new (genetic) therapies. To achieve this, advanced technologies will be employed: (1) to study the natural progression of various neuromuscular disorders; (2) to evaluate a wide range of new clinical, MRI imaging, and biochemical biomarkers as potential outcome measures for clinical studies in these diseases; and (3) to analyze the effectiveness of new treatments for various acquired and hereditary neuromuscular diseases. The most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will be used to enable the implementation of new MRI techniques in clinical practice. These AI tools, with direct clinical applicability, further emphasize the translational nature of this project. This project will be conducted in close collaboration with various other disciplines, specializations, and research groups within KU Leuven and UZ Leuven, as well as with international research teams.
