If you’re ready to take on this challenge, we want to hear from you!Purpose of the roleThe primary objective of the Disaster Management Programme Manager position is to provide quality guidance and support to SRCS in managing DRC-supported response operations, with a particular focus on building SRCS’s disaster management capacities. You will work closely with SRCS teams to design and implement projects across various states in Sudan, while ensuring effective coordination between SRCS and other Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Partner National Societies.Additionally, you will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of specific projects under your charge. As Disaster Management Programme Manager you will refer to Country Manager, Hector Palacios Pujolar.
The Disaster Management Programme Manager will be based in Port Sudan, Sudan.Key Responsibilities
· Provide operational support and guidance to SRCS in disaster management and emergency response, with a focus on with a focus on Cash Voucher Assistance (CVA), as the preferred modality in emergency response.
· Ensure lessons learned from disaster management activities are captured and shared across the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
· Collaborate with SRCS staff to design new project concepts and lead in the development of project proposals.
· Support the preparation of key SRCS disaster management documents, including policies, strategies, and standard operating procedures.
· Monitor and report on resource allocation, project activities, and budget utilization, ensuring project effectiveness and efficiency.
· Strengthen SRCS’s programme monitoring and evaluation capacity through training and technical support.
· Actively participate in regional and global coordination meetings relevant to disaster management.We believe that you fit this position, if you have
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Emergency Response, Project Management, Humanitarian Studies, International Relations) required; Master’s degree preferred.
· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in emergency operations, project management, coordination; 7+ years preferred.
· 5 years of experience in analysing, planning, and managing relief and humanitarian programs and resources.
· Proven field-based project management experience in conflict-affected or post-crisis countries.
· Experience in planning and managing humanitarian project finances and budgets.
· Extensive experience in CVA, including designing, implementing, and managing CVA programmes.
· Significant experience in Project Cycle Management (PCM) and financial management.
· Strong communication, coordination, and facilitation skills in sensitive environments.
· Knowledge of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (RCRC), Disaster Management, and other relevant cross-cutting areas preferred.
· High proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic preferred.

The duty station is Port Sudan. For 2024 Sudan is a non-family duty station with a paid 7-day Rest and Relaxation (R&R) leave permitted after every 8 weeks in-country. The classification of R&R duty stations is revised yearly and is subject for change.The ideal starting date is 15th November 2024. There is a 3-month probationary period, and the total length of the contract is 12 months with the possibility of extension.The contract will be administered in accordance with the Danish Red Cross for Delegates.
