At Edinburgh Napier University, we understand that it is because of our diversity that our community becomes smarter thinkers, better decision makers and braver innovators.Our Wellbeing and Inclusion team provides high quality, professional services to support potential and current students from their initial enquiry to Edinburgh Napier University through to graduation.In order to maintain our positive culture and assist us in ensuring that all of our students are adequately supported, we are currently recruiting a Disability Inclusion Service Manager who will work in partnership with our Head of EDI to lead and drive forward the key strategic inclusion responsibilities for our disabled students.The Role:The role of Disability Inclusion Service Manager is one that is hugely important to us.The post is crucial for developing strategy and direction for the University’s engagement with disabled students and one that helps to define and realise the inclusive culture that we are so proud of.As someone with real passion for equality, and extensive knowledge of issues relating to disability, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our Wellbeing and Inclusion service, which hinges on our inclusive approach to learning and teaching.Your knowledge and understanding of inclusive learning and assessment will serve you well as you propose and implement innovative and positive interventions to enhance the range of services that we currently have in place to support the academic success and retention of our disabled students.We anticipate that you will have an excellent understanding of equality legislation and relevant experience of successfully managing and implementing projects, which will enable you to act as the strategic lead for wider student inclusion related topics and activities and make a significant contribution to the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s overarching student inclusion and wellbeing provision.Furthermore, your experience at management level in a Further or Higher Education establishment will allow you to lead, evaluate and enhance the University’s Disability Inclusion service, act as line manager for the Disability Inclusion team and lead the on-going development of service delivery across our campuses and online.What we will need from you:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience of working in Further/ Higher Education delivering student disability inclusion services.
  • Knowledge and experience of issues relating to disability and best practice in a Higher Education setting
  • Knowledge of accessible and inclusive learning practices
  • Experience of leading teams and managing student support services in FE/HE
  • PVG Membership (or willingness to obtain membership)
