We seek a dynamic leader to join our Bioprocess Equipment and hardware team within the Single Use business of Avantor.
Our vision is for Avantor to lead the continued adoption of Single Use Solutions. This will be accelerated by innovation including development of smart systems that are anchor products in Bioprocess unit operations. This position will lead/join a passionate, agile team to develop innovative solutions to address high unmet needs and establish Avantor as the leader in Single Use Biopharma Production markets.

The Director, Bioprocess Hardware and Equipment leads our industry-leading pump equipment portfolio and growing portfolio of bioprocess system skids, sensors, and advanced data analysis capabilities. In this role, you will lead global product strategies, drive innovative solutions to address customer challenges, lead operations for top-line growth and profitability, and provide market leadership. This is a high visibility position at the ELT level and is best suited for a candidate who is ready to leverage their experience and drive the portfolio direction.   • Manage a team of senior product managers to develop, manage, and implement long-term (3+ years) product line strategies, business plans, and product roadmaps
  • Partner with the Strategy and Engineering teams to build product roadmap based on thorough market analysis and VoC
  • Collaborate with external and internal partners (Field application team) to develop application-based solutions.
  • Champion successful launches through requirements, development, and commercialization.
  • Own the ultimate customer and financial success of new product introductions (NPIs)
  • Understand and analyze market environment, including strengths, weaknesses, and product competition. Analyze, interpret, and report regularly to management regarding sales forecasts, product supply, and competition.
  • Responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives.
  • Serve as product champion with internal stakeholders, regional teams, and directly with customers including key accounts.
  • Maintain close relationships with field organization (e.g., sales and technical support) through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, participating with pricing tactics, and customer support.
  • Provide input to business unit annual strategic plan development including STRAP and AOP
  • Champion new product directions: work across functions to develop business opportunities for revenue growth (organic and inorganic) and cost reduction, while using the voice of customer research.
  • Develop and manage strategic collaborations for product partnerships, execute programs, lead cross-functional teams with R&D, operations, commercial groups, and external partners.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Life Science or Engineering
  • MBA is highly preferred.

Required Experience

  • Extensive product management experience managing a diverse product portfolio, including hardware, software, and consumables. Prior experience in product management biopharma/ bioprocess technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the biologic applications, bioprocess manufacturing process, and GMP analytical requirements is essential.
  • Knowledge of automation systems architecture, sensors and their interplay to offer digital solutions for process development and optimization.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively present to all levels of an organization internally and externally
  • Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills. Outstanding attention to detail and strong process consistency
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading new product development programs and launches.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a Long-Range Roadmap (3-5 years) that includes development/optimization and launching of industrial automation or similar highly technical products that combine hardware and software.
  • Ability to think critically to overcome potential business hurdles to complete tasks.
  • Experienced working in a matrixed and global organization.
  • The ideal candidate will be available to travel to sites, visit customers, and collaborate with R&D, Commercial, and other functional teams. ~20% globally.
