Job description

The role of the EUCAN A&I team is to work cohesively with the in market analytics teams, with the global A&I (GA&I), regional tumour teams and with our alliance partners to provide specific delivery on:

  • Business Performance and Tracking
  • Forecasting and Modelling
  • Understanding of and input to Insight Generation activities
  • Preparation for the key business cycle achievements (QBR, RBU, MTP, BSP, LRR)

Candidate Focus and Challenge – Job Description

  • Coordinates the complex statistical analysis of sales and marketing data, using the conclusions drawn to influence the organisation’s sales and marketing strategy, including Tumour and Brand Strategy Plans, portfolio valuation across the Annual Business Cycle and NPI Volume forecasting to inform Operations Planning.
  • Accountable for management of TA insights budget and contractor/consultant relationships, including oversight of outsourced off-shore analytics and forecast modelling expertise.
  • Accountable for ensuring the correct PMA, GMA and CI input has been received into case development
  • Lead accountability for the development and robustness of financial models to support marketing company forecasting and other business financial pricesses (QBR, RBU, MTP, BSP, LRR)
  • Responsible for driving proprietary AstraZeneca view of the key assumptions underpinning our cases based on interpretation of competitive intelligence, analytics and primary insight and secondary research sources
  • Responsible for bringing a proprietary intelligence driven external point of view into recommendations by demonstrating a network of sources and publicly available information
  • Responsible for the work allocation and prioritisation, development and performance management of their direct reports
  • Understands and leads the transition of brands/indications from the GA&I team to the EUCAN A&I team aligned with RTT and agreed protocols
  • Leads commitments and deliverables against the indication prioritisation framework
  • Maintains relationships with external vendors in collaboration with GA&I and Procurement teams
  • Ensures provision of data in a manner that is aligned to guidance from RTT and allows for timely and robust business analysis and decision making

  • Team of 5 franchise analysts

Candidate Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssential requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience qualified
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of secondary data sources and performance tracking
  • In depth knowledge of regional market dynamics through in-market or regional experience
  • Deep Therapy Area knowledge
  • Full knowledge / understanding of all stages of drug development and brand management
  • Consistent track record of attracting and developing talent and optimising team performance in direct and matrixed leadership roles
  • Excellent financial and eye for business
  • Advanced critical thinking, judgement and influencing skills
  • Able to articulate a vision, set direction and be a key doer of major business decisions
  • Able to express complex ideas and strategies in clear and compelling ways to multiple team member groups

Desirable requirements

  • Science related degree
  • PhD / MBA
  • Demonstrated experience in relevant Therapy Area
