Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, SOMERVILLE FIT OUT in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting employment opportunity for a graduate to work on a project to develop and integrate (Industry 4.0) digitalisation technologies to bring together all business operations and areas to create a new, sector-leading, data-driven smart factory facility.Delivery of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project for Somervilles NI in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast to develop and integrate (Industry 4.0) digitalisation technologies to bring together all business operations and areas to create a new, sector-leading, data-driven smart factory facility.Employed and supported by a team of academic experts from the University, you will be based at SOMERVILLES NI 7 Tower Lane, Hillsborough Road, Moneyreagh, BT23 6AY.As a KTP Associate, you will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages:Stage 1 – Knowledge capture and mapping for business and manufacturing operationsStage 2 – Future state mapping to define implementation goals for digital transformationStage 3 – Data flow mapping including shopfloor connectivity methods and network design collaborationStage 4 – Digital solution testing in AMIC facilityStage 5 – Advanced proof-of-concept testing and implementationStage 6 – Integration into business enterprise systemsStage 7 – Assess effectiveness of implemented systemsOne of the key KTP benefits is access to a £6,586 training and travel budget over the 24-month project.About the person:This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Computer/Data Science or Engineering graduate to work in SOMERVILLES FIT OUT, 7 Tower Lane, Hillsborough Road, Moneyreagh, BT23 6AY on a 24-month collaborative project with Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at Queen’s.The successful candidate will become part of a team within SOMERVILLE. NI.Somerville has grown from a traditional joinery manufacture and fit out company to a multi-faceted company which has added retail maintenance and sustainable processing to its business. The company is undergoing sustained growth with plans to double turnover within 5 years. To help with the company has acquired a new 13,000sq. ft facility with plans to move early in Q1 2025. To aid the growth the company undertook a SIRI assessment to evaluate readiness for Industry 4. Off the back of this assessment the transformation of the business from the current state of using legacy systems and processes to more streamlined data usage and digitisation has become a key strategic goal. This KTP will be vital in helping the company achieve this goal.A KTP role is the perfect launchpad for your career providing the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge and skills to deliver a strategic innovation project within a company.   • Hold an Honours Degree in Computer/Data Science or relevant Engineering subject such as Mechatronics, Electronics.
  • Relevant experience in a related research field, or on a project focussed on digital transformation.
  • Experience in data modelling, programming, and data visualisation.
