Job Title: Desktop & Apps Deployment Engineer Team Lead
Location (s) : Harlow (Essex), Glenrothes or Livingston (Scotland) – We offer Hybrid working (Ideally up to 2 days a week on-site or up to five days a month on-site) Summary of Role: Reporting to the Datacentre Services Manager. This role is responsible for leading the desktop and apps engineering function and all technical aspects of the application and endpoint operating system deployment lifecycle. This will include ensuring that endpoint OS builds are configured, managed and updated, desktop and user-based policies are controlled and managed, applications, are packaged, tested and deployed to physical and virtual workstations and working in partnership with other functions and teams Main Duties:
Guiding, monitoring and leading the desktop and apps deployment engineers towards achieving common goals
Full application life cycle management, including software inventory, software rationalisation,
Package, develop, test, and implement software packages and updates compatibility using formats such as APPV5, MSIX, APPX, MSI to build, test and deploy.
Create and validate windows installer MSI, MST and App-V packages.
Deployments using System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Active Directory.
Provide support and in-depth troubleshooting of any issues related to SCCM (packaging and deployments)
Ensure that packages are aligned to strictly defined application packaging standards.
Ensure adherence to best practices in packaging and integration processes
Maintain software documentation and ensure version control
Provide ongoing support for packaged applications and communicate with customers as well as third-party vendors.
Understand Windows OS nature and how it is organised in terms for end users.
Develop, build, test and maintain desktop images containing operating system and core applications for distribution to user desktops and virtual desktop infrastructure,
Collaborate with IT team to integrate and deploy desktop and software solutions
Analyse and resolve technical issues related to desktop and application deployments
Take part in service delivery processes including Incident management, Request management and Problem management.
Perform 3rd party update configuration and management
Work on assigned incidents, problems, changes, and projects
Help in the improvement of processes and in documentation whenever required.
Evaluate technologies, including assessing how they may be developed or deployed to enhance end user service
Provide support for new business demand through Service Requests or formally managed projects
Work with other teams while performing the above
Candidate Requirements: The Candidate MUST have the following skills and experience:
Experience in managing a team
Proven experience as a Packaging and Integration Engineer or similar role
Experience in management of Microsoft Endpoint Manager Configuration Manager (SCCM) infrastructure
Experience with Desktop builds and OS migrations
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Experience managing GPOs in desktop environments
Experience with Active Directory
Experience in large-scale and complex environments
Windows Installer MSI packaging and App V sequencing
SCCM application deployments
3rd line support of Applications and Desktop services
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
Soft skills:

Ability to write documentation & reports
Creativity/ ability to find innovative solutions
Mentoring and developing team members

Experience of deploying M365 products and services
