About the role

We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Design Technician to join our existing UK Masonry sales team based in Sheffield, UK

The role is responsible for building & maintaining relationships with customers to make sales and increase profitability. In addition, it is also responsible for encouraging repeat purchases and brand loyalty by adding value to transactions, providing the right solutions alongside excellent customer service.

Main responsibilities

This role is to offer detailed technical support and advice on the use of the company’s products and accessories to customers and colleagues. You will actively drive our solution selling ethos through value added design collaboration and providing elevated levels of customer experience. Projects are from across the UK and Ireland; varied from small house extensions to multi-million £GBP high-rise developments for specifiers (Architects and Engineers) and purchases (Building Contractors, Distributors and Merchants).

  • Producing safe, practical, and cost-effective solutions to design problems posed by both specifiers and purchasing customers.
  • Reviewing Architects’ and Engineers’ construction drawings, bills of quantities, and other documentation received from customers to identify the products they require, liaising with them and their design team as necessary to clarify details and/or request information.
  • Carrying out designs to determine correct product specifications and communicating any details, mark-ups, assumptions, etc. to the customer; as well as passing this information on to our commercial team to produce a quotation.
  • Identifying opportunities for new products and the improvement of existing products to reduce costs, improve, or meet new requirements.
  • Full training on our products and design tools will be provided.

Experience & qualifications

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English grades A-C
  • To be an enthusiastic person with a can do attitude able to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • To be methodical, organised with ability to prioritise.
  • To be computer literate (Particularly Microsoft Office and Dynamics CRM)
  • To possess a good attention to detail and to be accurate.
  • To be able to manage and respond to multiple issues at once whilst meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ideally experience of working in a construction or manufacturing business.
  • A proven track record of account management and converting quotes to orders.
  • To be able to read and understand technical drawings.
