Start Date: January 2025SENDirect is proud to support a specialist SEN residential school in Chelmsford in their search for a dedicated Deputy Head of Care. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced care professional passionate about working with students aged 10-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a key role in shaping the care provided to young people who require tailored support.In collaboration with the Head of Care, you will manage the residential care team, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with safeguarding policies. This is an exciting leadership role where you can make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.   • Assist the Head of Care in managing the residential care team, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
  • Support pupils aged 10-16 with SEMH needs, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Lead and mentor care staff, fostering professional development and a cohesive team dynamic.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with educational staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory care standards and safeguarding policies.
  • Work closely with the school’s leadership team to support the holistic development of students.
  • Actively participate in inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a senior care role, ideally within an SEMH or SEN residential setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Thorough understanding of safeguarding, care regulations, and SEMH support strategies.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Level 3 or above qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS check.
