Job description

Overall Purpose of the Job:Undertaking responsibility for structural fire safety and the management of its maintenance as agreed with the Principal Fire Officer, providing the highest attainable standards of statutory compliance, whilst supporting and contributing towards both the University’s fire safety strategy and the FMC service aims as applicable to the role. In particular:

• Supporting colleagues from across the University to achieve and discharge their delegated responsibilities for structural fire safety;
• Guiding and advising Safety Services in discharging their responsibility for the “people” aspects of fire safety and statutory compliance (e.g. fire safety training, evacuation exercises, preparation of PEEPs etc.);
• Undertaking responsibility for being the first point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders (particularly the Fire and Rescue Services); and
• Supporting both E&F and other University colleagues through provision of information on technical aspects of fire safety in line with University processes and protocols.
