Deputy Director of Flight Operations

Due to our continued growth, we are excited to announce the newly created role of Deputy Director of Flight Operations (DDFO), based in Leeds. This role is pivotal to driving our goal to be the UK’s Leading and Best Leisure travel business. This senior position supports and deputises for the Director of Flight Operations (DFO), with a responsibility to ensure continued delivery of a VIP customer service through a safe and efficient operation while driving to improve standards throughout the Flight Operations environment. With a remit of over 1,700 Pilots and more than 3,700 Cabin Crew Colleagues across our 12 UK Bases, this is a unique opportunity to join our award-winning airline at a hugely exciting time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management: direct and oversee the work of key Flight Operations management, including the Chief Pilot, Head of Flight Crew Training and Head of Cabin Services.
• Strategic Support: support the DFO in managing Flight Operations sub-contractors and liaise with the UK CAA on matters affecting our Air Operations Certificate (AOC).
• Compliance and Safety: ensure compliance with UK CAA regulations, the Air Navigation Order, and other legislation relevant to our air operations. Participate actively in the Safety and Strategy Review Boards and the Fatigue Safety Action Group (FSAG) to manage fatigue risks and maintain a healthy safety culture.
• Operational Efficiency: monitor and control operational efficiency standards, ensuring they are set and maintained within regulatory parameters.
• Incident Management: conduct enquiries into incidents involving our aircraft to identify causes and implement remedial actions swiftly.
• Safety Oversight: exercise responsibility for the safety of our air operations and manage our approved Flight Time Limitations Scheme.
• Cross-Department Liaison: foster close communication with the Engineering Department and Ground Handling Support teams to coordinate operational matters.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Commercial Airline Captain, on Boeing or Airbus aircraft.
• A training background is beneficial but not essential.
