We prepare our graduates to lead the way in creating a better world, and we invite you to join us in making a difference.About the Role:We are seeking a Departmental Support Officer (DSO) to serve as the first point of contact for departmental issues, providing vital coordination and administrative support to departmental Heads and activities.In this role, you will handle enquiries, support departmental recruitment activities, manage workload allocation models, organise events and seminars, and provide coordination for departmental meetings. You will also support internal and external activities of the Heads of Departments, act as pre-approval for departmental research allocations, and monitor departmental budgets.This role is essential to maintaining a positive academic staff experience and will involve close collaboration with the Staff Experience and wider Operations teams. While you will primarily work with a specific department, you will adopt a “one team” approach with other DSOs to support school-wide administrative and operational goals.This is a full-time (35 hours per week) indefinite contract position.About You:We are looking for an organised and proactive individual with the following skills and experience:Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and confidence in learning new systems.
  • Strong communication skills, including drafting documents and contributing to meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent numerical and data management skills, with the ability to analyse and present complex data for decision-making.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, capable of prioritising tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Extensive administrative experience, ideally in an academic setting.
  • A proactive approach to work, demonstrating professional judgment and the ability to contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in monitoring and improving processes.
  • Experience managing budgets and resources, including leading projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work professionally with a diverse range of individuals.
