- Work with GfK’s Point of Sale / Media / third-party data to develop Data Science solutions for implementation and standardization in Big Data environments
- Screen the market for potential new / innovative Data Science approaches
- Actively share Data Science knowledge within Technology and Data network
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement Data Science and machine learning solutions in proofs of concept and prototypes (e.g., notebooks, web applications)
- Contribute to Data Science projects by developing and implementing Data Science and machine learning models that are reproducible and well documented, and that follow prescribed coding guidelines
- Contribute to the development of Data Quality projects by being current with the latest trends in Data Quality, implementing viable new ideas, analyzing data, as well as by interpreting, visualizing, and presenting results
- Consult internal clients on Data Science and data quality related issues
- Present GfK’s Data Science expertise at conferences and workshops
- Create and improve methods and tools and contribute to best practices in the area of Data Science
- Participate in Communities of Practice
- Foster Data Science related knowledge exchange within GfK
- Support development of talent and organization of required trainings
QualificationsEssential skills
- Master or PhD degree that reflects strong statistical / mathematical / computer science skills
- Typically 2+ years of work experience
- Strong knowledge of statistical modeling and Data Science techniques (e.g., outlier detection, sampling and weighting, regression, cluster analysis, predictive modeling)
- Solid knowledge of optimization and / or machine learning algorithms and / or deep learning algorithms
- Solid knowledge of Python and the respective development tools / IDEs (e.g., Jupyter, PyCharm)
- Solid skills with regard to database handling, in particular SQL, NoSQL
- Basic understanding of Big Data Architectures
Desirable skills
- Solid experience and working knowledge of the constantly evolving Data Science ecosystem and popular machine learning frameworks
- Experience with common software engineering practices and frameworks (version control, testing, agile development, Scrum)
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments (e.g., GCP) and the productionizing machine learning models (e.g., exposure as REST API, containerization, scalability, performance optimization)

- Ability to estimate the complexity of a Data Science solution compared to value provided and to inform project planning
- Ability to work without supervision, help other team members with errors / tool setup and constantly strive to learn and improve
- Ability to think creatively in addressing analytical objectives
- Ability to translate and clearly communicate sophisticated analytical information to non-expert stakeholders
- Ability to fluidly communicate in an English business environment
