Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data & ML Engineer Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the technical activities, while also maintaining a deep technical focus on overall stack technology. You will work closely with the team to ensure high-quality, scalable, and performant data applications. 

Responsabilities: 

• Be a Staff Engineer first, leading the technical activities, ensuring the quality of the products, and providing guidance on technology choices.
• Lead design and implementation of software development lifecycle processes for data applications, including CI/CD, version control, infrastructure as code, and observability platform.
• Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of the MLOps frameworks for experimentation, training, model registry, serving, monitoring, and enhancement working closely to Data Scientist Team.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in Data and ML architectures, with a specific focus on Lakehouse and Generative AI applications.
• Provide guidance and support to team members and help foster a positive work environment through effective people management.
• Provide support on operation processes and activities.
• Provide support on budget allocation and project implementation (internal vs outsourcing)

Qualifications

Technical Skills: 

• 5+ years of experience in engineering or related fields (computer science, telecommunications, mathematics)
• Experience in the insurance industry is a plus
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related field (computer science, telecommunications, mathematics)
• Expertise in AWS cloud services (EMR, S3, RDS, Opensearch, Athena, Kinesis, MSK, Lambda, Glue, Sagemaker, etc.) and Data Platform components, such as Data Catalog and Data Quality.
• Knowledge of performance optimization and distributed systems development.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Scala or Python and SQL along with strong experience in data processing frameworks like Spark (preferred), Flink (optional) and message broker frameworks such as Kafka.
• In-depth understanding of data management best practices and real-time data processing architectures.
• Knowledge of ML pipelines, frameworks and architecture is a plus.
• Knowledge of Data Mesh principles and RAG architecture is a plus.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a focus on analytical thinking.
• Detail-oriented, organized, able to manage competing priorities, and skilled at both independent and collaborative work, with a proactive approach to communication.
