Main Missions of the BI & Performance of the team
Reporting the VP Commercial team our mission is to collect, modelize and generate insightful data to support the commercial, digital and pricing strategy for all Orient-Express Assets (Trains, Hotels and Yacht) around 2 main activities Data Intelligence & Business Performance monitoring.
Job Description
We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer, who will report to Orient Express Director of Data, BI & Performance, to enforce the data intelligence team. As a key member you’ll actively participate in the creation of the Orient-Express Datawarehouse, you will be involved in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and contributing to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure closely with the Orient-Express dedicated IT Team. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to quickly develop your skills
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) from various data sources.
- Assist in setting up data infrastructure to support BI, analytics and data science initiatives.
- Participate in data modeling to meet the requirements of business teams and projects.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and developers to understand data requirements and ensure the quality of deliverables.
- Monitor data flows to ensure proper functioning, detect anomalies, and propose improvements.
- Document processes and data pipelines following best practices.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, or equivalent.
- Initial experience in Business Intelligence or data engineering.
- Initial experience in relational databases SQL and NoSQL systems.
- knowledge ETL tools (Talend, Apache NiFi, etc.) and data management platforms (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python is a plus
- Knowledge of a cloud service (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Our current stack is based on Snowflake storage, Dataiku for ETL (SQL and receipes) & Modelisation & Tableau reporting
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
- Appetency for figures & business understanding.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Self-motivated, proactive, curious and eager to learn.
- Good level of English, particularly for reading and writting technical documentation.
