Job Role:
We are recruiting a Data Centre Supervisor to join our successful Data Centre Solutions team based in London. The post holder will be expected to have an extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and DC-specific infrastructure). As the Data Centre Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated assets within the Data Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
– Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre competently, effectively, and efficiently (including HV Electrical isolations/operations). Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
– Ensure that all Specialist Sub Contractors conduct works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures, MOP/PTW, and client change requests.
– Ensure that Specialist Sub Contractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, the quality of work has been inspected, and recommendations are communicated to the Data Centre Operations Manager.
– Accurately report all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
– Review and prepare MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, and associated risk assessments.
– Champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
– Proactively attend nominated training courses as identified by management in line with the DCS training matrix.
– Contribute to a positive culture within the team regarding personal development and training.
– Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policies and procedures.
– Supervise the completion of assigned planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
– Support the training and development of technicians and apprentices.
– Participate in the engineering Quality Assurance process to validate the standards of completed works.
– Supervise the day-to-day house shift and day team performance.
– Manage holiday and sickness cover for shift and day team.
– Support the ESM/TSM in all areas as required or directed.
– Manage critical plant repairs and equipment with the in-house team and sub-contractors.
Skills Required:
– Experience in Data Centre or Critical Environment operations and/or experience as a supervisor in an FM role.
– HNC/HND in a relevant field or associated Electrical/Mechanical Apprenticeship (or similar).
– 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
– Drive operational excellence within the team.
– Strong IT skills.
– Ability to lead a team under pressure while remaining calm, clear-thinking, and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
– Demonstrate commitment and previous experience; individuals who do not meet all the required technical qualifications may be considered subject to Director’s approval.
– Willingness to attend on and off-site training for plant and systems, which may require nights away from home.
– High level of initiative.
– Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions.
– Enthusiasm, proactivity, diligence, and alertness, with a willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes.
