The European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) is looking to recruit a full-time Data and Policy Research Analyst to support ECSA’s policy and outreach work with robust research and data analysis.

ABOUT ECSA

ECSA is the umbrella organisation of the national shipowners’ associations of the EU and Norway. European shipowners control around 39.5% of the world’s shipping fleet. ECSA’s prime task is to represent the interests of the European shipping industry with the institutions of the European Union.

 

YOUR TASKS

  • Data collection and management:  gather data from various sources, ensure data quality, maintain internal databases.
  • Data analysis and policy research: support ECSA’s advocacy activities with data analysis on relevant shipping, environment and trade topics. Analyse data and policy issues from a variety of sources including industry databases, scientific studies, European Commission reports to develop a detailed understanding of relevant policy issues.
  • Collaboration: work closely with the policy team to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights.
  • Briefings and studies: support the development of ECSA’s advocacy and communication material, including by contributing to in-house studies and reports.
  • Communication: contribute to dissemination activities including by presenting ECSA’s technical analyses to policymakers and stakeholders.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • A relevant academic degree and between 1 and 3 years of experience in a similar role. Knowledge of shipping is not required but will be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in working with Excel. Knowledge of other tools such as Python, R or Stata is not a requirement but will be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to quickly grasp technical issues and assess data on different topics.
  • Good communication and presentation skills and the ability to write in English fluently, accurately and concisely.
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
