Maybe it’s you we are looking for in our Global Supply Chain team, as our new Customs Expert with 1 Year Fixed Term contract (possible extension)RequirementsAs our Customs Expert, you will manage all customs related matters for inbound and outbound shipments and to ensure full compliance with the customs regulations. To thrive in this role, you must have deep understanding of the German/Belgium customs as well as the ability to connect with stakeholders on all levels both internal & external.Key Responsibilities
- Ensures timely and correct filing of import and export declarations and the quarterly IPR reports to the local authorities.
- Owns the customs related fields in the material master data in SAP and SAP GTS and drives the integrity of these fields.
- Keeps the customs manual up to date.
- Assist/coordinate inbound transportation in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner in collaboration with the call-off teams on the site Emmen, Beekerveld, Genk, Uerdingen, Hamm and Antwerp.
- Arrange export related customs documentation (EUR-1, ATR1 etc.) for our European sites.
- Manages preference determination and related processes and documentations in SAP GTS.
- Assist/coordinate transportation for inter-plant movements.
- Ensures and maintains open communication with the customs authorities.
- Ensures demurrage, detention and other inbound related transport costs are kept to a bare minimum.
- Ensures inbound lead times and flows are optimized in time, cost and in modality.
- Manages the relation of our transportation suppliers together with the Customs team lead.
The Ideal
- 3 to 8 years’ experience in international trade and logistics.
- Relevant experience in filing import and export declarations for BE and/or DE customs.
- Is certified to file import/export declarations in Belgium and/or Germany.
- Understands the risk related to import and export transactions.
- Capability of working in a fast paced and often changing environment.
