This position is located in the Cybercrime Convention and Intergovernmental Services (CCIS), Cybercrime and Technology Section (CTS), Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The incumbent will report to the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer responsible for supporting the Secretariat of the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes (AHC) and under the overall supervision of the Chief of Section. Responsibilities
Within assigned authority, the incumbent will carry out a range of functions related to the advancement and implementation of the UN Convention against Cybercrime. In particular, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Provide substantive and technical support to the AHC and future Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) for the UN Convention against Cybercrime and any related body; • Draft pre-, in- and post session documents for the meetings of the AHC and the CoSP, as applicable, and contribute to substantive servicing of formal or informal meetings; • Prepare substantive inputs to the maintenance of various databases and directories of competent authorities, including collecting relevant laws, regulations and policy documents from States parties, as appropriate; • Draft a variety of written outputs, such as background papers, correspondence with governments, working papers and presentations in support of activities related to the entry into force of the Convention, as well as future work of the CoSP; • Undertake legal analysis and research on matters related to the AHC and the CoSP; • Provide substantive inputs on matters related to the ratification and implementation of the Convention, assist in the review of relevant legal documents, instruments, or other material; • Compile background information and documentation on the implementation of the Convention and of resolutions of the CoSP; • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting; • Perform any other work-related duties as may be required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, law, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in crime prevention and criminal justice matters, including on organized crime or cybercrime is required. Experience in the substantive servicing of intergovernmental bodies on crime prevention and criminal justice issues is required. Experience in conducting research on organized crime, or cybercrime, or similar legal matters is desirable. Work experience in the United Nations system or similar international organization dealing with crime prevention and criminal justice issues is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
