Your job and responsibilities
Interested in applying your IT skills and experience for designing and operating robust, scalable, and secure network and telecommunications infrastructure? Enthusiastic about modernising legacy systems architectures while integrating with cloud-based solutions to meet our stakeholders’ needs?
As Senior Network Engineer in the Digital Platforms unit, you are responsible for designing, evolving and coordinating the operations of the Committees’ IT network and telecommunications infrastructure, including network security solutions, in line with the organisational objectives.
You will contribute to ensure high availability, disaster recovery and performance of the backbone / access layer / Data Centre / Wi-Fi / IP telephony systems, as well as the network security and Internet access environments. You will collaborate closely with the cybersecurity, operational and application teams to align infrastructure with business needs and ensure compliance with security policies. You will also maintain detailed documentation of architectures, as well as operational procedures.
Driving innovation by conducting technology watch, identifying recommended technological advancements, assessing feasibility and testing new solutions is part of the role.
The ideal candidate will blend a broad operational network/IT knowledge (hands-on) with a strong service-oriented mindset, proficient communication skills, as well as effective collaboration and team spirit. S/he will also support the lifecycle management of hardware and software components and will contribute to budget planning.
You are part of the dynamic team of the Network and Telecommunications sector, which consists of three officials (including the head of sector) and one consultant.

Job-specific requirements
You have passed EPSO CAST FGIV
You possess a strong technological background and hands-on experience in an operational network context (on-premises and hybrid environments), including Cisco, Checkpoint, Wi-Fi controllers/access points, IP telephony, backup and storage connectivity systems, security solutions.
You have proven experience in designing resilient and secure communication network architecture (high availability, performance optimisation, zero trust, disaster recovery, capacity planning).
You possess practical knowledge of cybersecurity threats mitigation and response and of cloud suppliers/topologies.
You have experience with Service Level Management, monitoring and evaluating the performance of services against agreed targets.
Holding recognised certifications in the field of ITIL, cybersecurity or network/system administration is considered an advantage.
You possess proficient communication and drafting skills, with the ability to effectively produce technical documentation, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
You can effectively handle business conflicts and negotiate solutions.
You have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another of the EU’s official languages. For functional reasons, a thorough knowledge of English is required; a satisfactory knowledge of the French language would be an asset.
