Your job and responsibilities

Interested in communication with an interest in television and radio? Like to help your colleagues promote the work of the more than one million local and regional politicians across the EU and of the Committee that represents them at the EU level?

As a Press Officer – Audiovisual Communication Officer in the Directorate for Communication, you are responsible for increasing the visibility and impact of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and its members in the broadcast media.

You organise press briefings, interviews and TV/radio debates for the journalists.

You are also responsible for developing, managing and consolidating the press relations with audiovisual journalists in order to promote the CoR on TV and radio at EU, national and local level.

Our Unit D.1 – Press office, relations with media which consists of a press team (roughly 10 people), an audiovisual team (roughly 4 people) and a number of support staff and is part of the Directorate for Communication. It is divided into 3 sectors:

  • D.1 – Press office, relations with media
  • D.2 – Events and local dialogues
  • D.3 – Digital communication and IT strategy

Our field? Press, TV and radio.

Our main achievements are strengthening Local and Regional Voices in EU Policy, Influencing EU policies/legislation and Raising Awareness of Regional Issues. 

Our challenges ahead include representing the diversity of Europe’s regions, Balancing National and EU Interests and Increasing Citizen Awareness.

JOB-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • You have experience in working with the press and the audiovisual media (TV or radio) and you are familiar with the specific requirements of audiovisual media production, including social media.
  • You have strong IT applications and tools skills.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another of the EU official languages. For functional reasons, a high level of English is required and a good level of other EU languages is desirable.
  • You have a good command of IT applications and tools, such as MS Outlook®, Excel®, Word® and SharePoint®, including AI tools in a secure environment.
  • You are keen on critical assessment of credibility and reliability of sources, data and information and use relevant digital tools to carry out the duties.
  • You have a critical spirit, analyse and solve problems pragmatically.Please note that candidates must meet the eligibility criteria specified in art. 12(2) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants.
