As a Contracts Counsel at Rheem Europe, a fast-growing international organization on the forefront of sustainable heating, cooling, and heat pump sectors, you will help solidify the legal department’s position within the commercial organization of its European subsidiaries. You will be responsible for drafting, examining, managing, reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, and revising all types of contracts for our international subsidiaries. This role will consist of managing inbound and outbound contracts and working closely with the sales and procurement teams, as well as with other business units, to guide contracts through review, negotiation, signing and execution stages.
The Contracts Counsel is a primary liaison between the business teams requiring a business transaction memorialized in a contract and the Legal team. The European Legal team is part of Rheem’s global Legal Department which employs various specialist functions, including various commercial lawyers that may act as your sounding board. Rheem Europe’s legal team currently consists of a Corporate Counsel and is positioned under the CFO of Rheem Europe. You will operate within an international scope, spanning across locations including the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Slovak Republic and the USA.As a key partner to the commercial teams, your experience in legal risk management helps achieve the business’ ambitious growth targets and its commitment to environmental sustainability, whilst at the same time protecting their interests. You aim to keep up-to-date with regards to developments in regulations and to contribute to the development of your colleagues’ knowledge to drive legal best business practices throughout the day-to-day execution of their jobs.YEAR ONE GOALS:

  • Strengthen the position of the legal department within the commercial organization of the European entities by driving a pro-active approach to risk management and further development of commercial processes and tools.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to establish sound contract negotiation and contract management processes, and prepare and manage contracts within contract management system (CMS).
  • Support the Greenfields project team in the contractual activities around the establishment of new production facilities for the group in Central Europe.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in contract law, outstanding negotiation skills, all while managing extensive stakeholder relationships within a highly structured organizational framework;

  • WO degree in Dutch law and 3-7 years of experience with international contracts at a law firm or corporate law department;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in both Dutch and English;
  • You have demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and internal clients within a complex environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and close commercial agreements with minimal support from senior staff.
