The Continuous Improvement Coordinator role is designed to coach and drive the implementation of the Smurfit Westrock Operational Excellence System (OES) which follows Lean Six Sigma principles. This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization. This position requires a leader that possesses a Continuous Improvement mindset that can facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging their strong interpersonal and influencing skills. The role will require the post holder to work on site Monday to Friday to work with key stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute Operational Excellence strategy to accomplish them.
- Responsible for coaching Lean Six Sigma belts at the local plant level and to drive their engagement into Operational Excellence activities & initiatives in order achieve OpEx Goals & Targets.
- Lead/Execute LSS projects that contributes towards the OpEx savings target.
- Focus on driving improvements in OEE, Waste, Quality, and other key areas through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts (8 wastes), and other related defects in the process.
- Work with cross-functional departments to identify improvement opportunities.
- Train teams at all levels to utilize lean six sigma tools and methodology.
- Coach the project leaders during their journey and facilitate key improvement activities.
- Provide and share foundational best practices.
- Ensure alignment to the system across plants.
- Identify training needs/gaps prior to and during the implementation and assist the OpEx team in delivering LSS trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Critical Competencies
- Foundational experience in Continuous Improvement
- Lean Six Sigma Certification (Yellow/Green Belt)
- Coaching and communications skills
- Strong leadership abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Professional maturity – work with all levels
- Positive and Continuous Improvement mindset
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience
- Preferred similar experience in Lean Operating Systems
- Experience of working with cross functional leaders that led to verifiable / measurable financial benefits

- Divisional Data system (Plant Floor, Radius, KIWI, AS 400, etc.)
- Lean Six Sigma Project Library
