Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with an interest in Medical Education10 Programmed ActivitiesPermanentSalary: £99,532 – £131,964 Per AnnumClosing Date – 29th September 2024Interview Date – 7th November 2024We seek a dynamic, charismatic, and energetic individual with an interest in Colposcopy / Outpatient Hysteroscopy and Medical Education to lead our staff into a brave new era and fit in with our vision for our maternity service. You would need to be within 3 months of achieving a CCT or CESR. Gynaecological surgery experience would be an asset.We are a district general hospital based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire with a vision to provide first class consultant-delivered care to the children and families of Nuneaton, North Coventry, and West Leicestershire. We see 2,200 births each year in our consultant-led maternity unit and have strong links with our LMNS partner hospitals. - To support and complement both the Obstetrics and Gynaecology services provided by George Eliot Hospital NHS
- To take clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of women under their care, both when outpatients and
- To provide consultant presence on the Labour Ward and participate in the out-of-hours consultant
- To participate in ‘Consultant of the week’ (Hot Week) and to provide consultant cover for the Maternity Assessment Unit and Triage during these
- Pursue an interest in Medical Education and eventually assume the College Tutor role
- To be responsible for the obstetric training of junior staff and undergraduate students. The role will provide leadership and input for the PROMPT training.
- To be involved in appraisal and assessment of junior staff and undergraduate students. To actively participate in clinical teaching and training of the wider multidisciplinary
- To take an active role in Clinical Governance, and lead and participate in audit projects
- To undertake the necessary administrative work relating to the post
- To promote research and academic activity within the department
- To attend Trust and Departmental induction and mandatory training

- Fully trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Clinical Knowledge and Expertise: Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems; demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach; understands evidence-based practice
- ATSM in Out Patient Hysteroscopy
- ATSM in EPAU management
- IT Skills, ability to use web browser, excel, word etc
- Willingness to develop skills and experience in areas of interest.
- Evidence of regularly undertaking audits and management of change in line with the audit recommendations
Desirable
- Evidence of clinical or research commitment and a relevant specialty interest.
- Ability to perform/ interest in performing laparoscopic hysterectomies
Qualification and Professional TrainingEssential
- MBBS or Equivalent
- Full GMC Registration, with licence to practice
- MRCOG or Equivalent
- Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations eg BSCCP
Desirable
- Higher degree e.g., MSc, MD or equivalent
