The Anaesthetics Department are actively seeking qualified consultants within the area or for those who are looking to relocate and commence employment as a substantive consultant. This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor who is seeking their first role as a substantive consultant after completing their specialist registration.Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust was established on 1 October 2021, formally bringing together two NHS Trusts into one single entity. NCA provides hospital and community healthcare services in Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale. Our dedicated team of around 20,000 staff delivers high standards of care and experience excellence to over one million people across Greater Manchester and beyond, working together to save lives and improve lives.Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within a group arrangement of hospitals, community, and healthcare services. Together they manage and are responsible for the day-to-day running of their hospital and community services, ensuring the safe delivery of high-quality care at scale.(Primarily based at Salford Royal Hospital, with possibility of some activity at other sites)Main duties of the jobWe provide a variety of surgical specialities in Salford including the upper GI service to Greater Manchester and a nationally referred Intestinal Failure Unit. We have a well-established CPET service and ERAS pathways for our Major elective surgery. Our data is collected as part of PQUIP and the results discussed at regular Divisional meetings. We have an expanding group within the department with an interest in Perioperative Medicine and improving patient outcomes.We also house the Manchester centre for Clinical Neurosciences. We provide cover for a variety of neurosurgical specialities and we are continuing to expand. Our spinal unit has a nationally referred cohort of patients and performs complex spinal corrective surgery. The department is driven by a collaborative decision making process between anaesthesia and surgery to optimise outcomes for patients. We are also the first Trust in the North West to provide a 7 day Thrombectomy service. This is expected to expand to a 24 hour service shortly.Outside of Salford, we also support the NCA orthopaedic centre which is based in Fairfield hospital and general surgery lists at Rochdale Infirmary. It is expected that any appointment will have some work in these areas. There may be scope for work in other areas of the NCA but this would need to be jointly agreed with any successful candidate and the relevant Department.   • ATLS or ETC certification
  • Completion of the CCT/higher specialist training or equivalent in Anaesthesia

  • Participation in a management training course.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register / Admission to the Register within 6 months of interview

  • Extensive experience in anaesthesia for general surgery, gynae surgery, spinal surgery and trauma and orthopaedic surgery
  • Experience of ultrasound guided regional anesthesia blocks appropriate upper and lower limb surgery

  • Trained to the level of clinical supervisor
  • Academic Achievements and Research: Relevant reviewed peer publication(s).
  • Understanding of the management responsibilities of NHS Consultants
