A clinical position as consultant of Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Digestive Disease Centre K, Section of gastroenterology-hepatology at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg is open for appointment from as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor (chair) of Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.With this new position the Digestive Disease Centre K, Section of gastroenterology-hepatology at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( )About the Digestive Disease CentreCopenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg is one of four emergency hospitals in the Capital Region. At the Digestive Disease Centre K, we handle medical gastroenterology/hepatology, as well as acute and elective surgery. Our scope in gastroenterology/hepatology is primarily IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and liver diseases, and within surgery, our primary focus is on the treatment of colorectal cancer, advanced endoscopy, complex IBD- fistulas and anal fistulas, as well as giant hernias and parastomal hernias.Our admission area covers the Copenhagen City Area with approximately 475,000 citizens, Bornholm with around 43,000 citizens for selected diseases, and the Faroe Islands for rectal cancer. In the Digestive Disease Centre K’s gastro-medical section, we have a ward with 20 beds, including 3 intermediate observation beds, and an associated inpatient clinic with a cirrhosis clinic. Additionally, we have a large outpatient clinic that also houses the hospital’s diagnostic unit. In the surgical section, we have an acute surgical admission unit, two inpatient wards, and a same-day surgical section. Furthermore, we have an operating ward emergency and elective operating rooms, a surgical outpatient clinic, and a stoma clinic. Both the medical and surgical sections share an endoscopy unit with eight rooms and a research unit.The Digestive Disease Centre K has a well-functioning research section and is expanding research in areas such as IBD, NASH, chronic pancreatitis, the microbiome of the intestine, and more. Within surgical research, there is a focus on colorectal cancer, hernia, complex anal fistulas, and acute pancreatitis.At the Digestive Disease Centre K, we focus on strengthening collaboration between the medical and surgical sections through joint conferences, and we develop interdisciplinary functions in diagnostics and treatment, such as endoscopy and ultrasound, which are currently our areas of focus. We also have a significant emergency activity, treating patients with acute abdomen, gastrointestinal bleeding, ileus, pancreatitis, acute proctology, liver coma, and more. The gastro-medical section is currently involved in an on-call schedule in the hospital’s medical admission unit, focusing on gastro-medical and internal medical issues.Digestive Disease Centre K is organized with department management and delegated responsibilities for specialist doctors. We prioritize transparency in leadership and decision-making processes, emphasizing the resolution of problems through interdisciplinary collaboration and the inclusion of all professional groups. We have a substantial educational commitment for doctors in specialist training, introductory positions, and basic medical training.Research and teachingWith this new position the Digestive Disease Centre, Section of gastroenterology-hepatology at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.QualificationsApplicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Digestive Disease Centre. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Digestive Disease Centre. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Digestive Disease Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg.Application procedureThe application must include the following:
