A clinical position as consultant of Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Gastrounit, Medical Section at Copenhagen University Hospital – Amager and Hvidovre is open for appointment from as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor (chair) of Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( )ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Gastrounit is a fusion of Surgery and Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology. It has in total around 100 -110 doctors (46 in the medical section), 350 nurses and 45 administrative employees. There is in total 117 beds, 31 is only for medical patients, own semi-intensive ward (7 beds) and 20 places for common short term in -hospital beds Acute ward with 25 beds together with surgery, and with 14.000 hospitalizations yearly and around 70.000 out-patient visits, 6000 surgical procedures and 15.000 endoscopies carried out per year. There is a junior staff MD present 24 hours and a consultant on call.The medical section has both main function, regional function and highly specialized function within conditions in both the upper and lower part of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and pancreas.Clinical functions and focus areas of the departmentHighly specialized function in:Pancreatic diseases with complications and the need for endoscopic procedures, chronic liver diseases with complications, motility disorders and upper gastrointestinal diseases.Regional function in:Inflammatory bowel diseases, vascular liver diseases, autoimmune liver and pancreatic diseases and advanced endoscopic proceduresTranslational research within diseases in the gastrointestinal tract and liver including research related to the microbiome.The clinical functions will be related to the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases depending on the consultant’s expertise in the in-hospital area and in the out-patient clinic. Dependent on endoscopic skills, there will also be possibilities to perform a variety of endoscopies.Research and teachingThe Medical Section has a long and strong research history with approximately 80 publications per year, mainly in international journals with peer review. We have 3 professors, 12 PhD students and 2 post-docsThe department teaches medical students in several levels of their education, and participates in post- graduate education for specialization in Gastroenterology and HepatologyWith this new position the Gastrounit, Medical Section at Copenhagen University Hospital – Amager and Hvidovre wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.QualificationsApplicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology and Hepatology.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Amager and Hvidovre.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department and of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Gastrounit, Medical Section. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Gastrounit, Medical Section. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Gastrounit, Medical Section, Copenhagen University Hospital – Amager and Hvidovre.Application procedureThe application must include the following:
