A clinical position as consultant of Endocrinology and Internal Medicine at the Department of Internal Medicine, at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte is open for appointment from as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Endocrinology with special focus on translational endocrinology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( )About the departmentThe medical research in the Department of Internal Medicine covers several specialties. We have committed researchers in the fields of infectious diseases, lung diseases, geriatrics as well as endocrinology and metabolism spread over several research units around the hospital.In the department, we have an active research environment with a group of PhD students, research-active senior doctors and professors, one of whom is also attached to the Department of Oncology. In recent years, we have developed a close collaboration with several highly specialized departments at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital and have partners in the cardiology department at Rigshospitalet and Skejby as well as abroad, which leads to an increasing number of PhD studies.Clinical functions and focus areas of the departmentDepartment of Internal Medicine has a highly specialized endocrine unit with a large outpatient department and 24 beds for admitted patients. The applicant is expected to see, handle and take part of leadership for securing high quality clinical work for the highly specialized endocrine patients. Moreover, the applicant is expected to participate in rounds at the ward and see patients at the Internal medicine ward and be actively involved in securing high quality for patients in the internal medicine section.Research and teachingWith the new position as consultant in Endocrinology and clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Endocrinology with special focus on translational endocrinology the Department of Internal Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.QualificationsApplicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine: Endocrinology.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of Internal Medicine, Herlev-Gentofte Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte.Application procedureThe application must include the following:
