Offer DescriptionPROJECT – As part of the Horizon 2023 project CONCILIARE (CONfidently ChangIng coLonIAl heritage), which has received funding under the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action, we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher. You will join a large international consortium consisting of seven European universities and various societal partners, including museums of colonial history and decolonial association.The CONCILIARE project will explore how colonial cultural heritage (CCH) is changing in response to decolonial movements across Europe in four key areas: textbooks, public spaces, museums, and products and traditions. The goal is to develop evidence-based approaches that enhance confidence and foster intergroup dialogue regarding these changes.JOB DESCRIPTION – As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be involved in two work packages. The majority of your efforts will be dedicated to WP3, led by ULB and Sapienza University, which examines how museum visitors react to the evolving presentation of cultural objects acquired during colonial times, including issues of provenance and restitution, as well as the portrayal of colonial history. Additionally, you will contribute to WP4, which focuses on public responses to changes in cultural consumption of products and traditions linked to CCH.ENVIRONMENT – This position is based at the Center for Social and Cultural Psychology (CeSCuP) at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), a center with a strong expertise in areas such as intergroup relations, social identities, intercultural relations, and collective memories. - a PhD in the field of social or cultural psychology;
- experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods (the project includes interviews, focus groups, surveys, and experiments);
- excellent statistical analyses skills;
- a strong interest and theoretical expertise in intergroup relations, social identities, social representations, group-based emotions, collective memories, identities and culture;
- a scientific track record appropriate to the stage of their career;
- excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a larger team;
- excellent collaborative and organisational skills;
- high proficiency in English (C2 level), proficiency in French is an asset;
Specific RequirementsELIGIBILITY – Note that only people who have not lived or worked in Belgium for more than 24 months over the last 3 years immediately preceding the start of the contract and have defended their PhD since no longer than 8 years before the start of the position, are eligible for application.
