About usThe is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both Bloomsbury and at UCL East.The department is one of only a few broad-based anthropology departments in the UK comprising five sub-sections: Evolutionary and Environmental Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Material Culture, Medical Anthropology, and Public Anthropology.UCL Anthropology is committed to prioritising issues of equality and social inclusion across all its activities.About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Community Health and Translation Project Officer to work on a research project that can potentially make a significant impact. This project employs a mixed-methods program of community-based participatory research to illuminate the racialised public health burden of incarceration on families and communities in Colombia, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.You will spearhead the HIPS study’s Public Engagement Strategy, working closely with Community Advisory Boards (CABs) and local partners to develop national and international policy recommendations and implement measurable impact strategies addressing the public health impacts of racialised incarceration.For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Caroline Parker ( ).If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online or have any queries regarding the application process, please contact .The role will be available starting early 2025 and will initially be funded by the Wellcome Trust for five years.About youYou will hold a Master’s degree or a PhD in Public Health, Public Policy, Community-Based Participatory Research, Social Work, or a related field combined with fluent or bilingual Spanish. You must possess an in-depth knowledge of Latin America, ideally with study field sites, and a proven track record of engaging Latin American communities in research, including leading and facilitating Community Advisory Board meetings.The ideal candidate will understand the stakeholder landscape in racial justice and incarceration, community health, and NGOs supporting families of incarcerated individuals in at least one of the study sites (Colombia, Mexico, or Puerto Rico).Please ensure that you submit a supporting statement as part of your application in addition to a CV and that you address each of the essential criteria in your application.
